On May 1st it was the day. I was invited to deliver a speech at the annual convention of our sister association in Southern Africa:

The Game of Life and How to Play it!

was the motto of the event.

And life is sometimes playing strange games. It occured, that there was another BlackStar from ecademy invited to speek at the event.

So at 4 p.m. it was on me:

10 Days of Wonderful Experience

On April 23th, 2010 the journey began. Via Paris my wife and I flew to Johannesburg. The first big thing was the Airbus A380. Jo’burg awaited us with some rain and rather low temperature. And this was our ongoing wheather in South Africa.

Picking up the car at the rental station took quite some time and off we were to Pretoria, where we stayed in a very nice Guesthouse for the weekend. On Sunday we visited the Union Building and the center of Pretoria, where most shops were open.

On Monday we drove into the North to Welgevonden Game Resort, near Vaalwater. At Clifftop Lodge we stayed for 3 nights and had 2 Game Drives every day. Although the constant rain and cold wheather we took them all and saw a lot of mammals and 4 of the Big5.

On Thursday we headed back to Jo’burg and checked in at our Hotel at Emperors Palace.

The PSASA Convention 2010 (in a few words)

On Thursday evening we met some of the international delegates and our hosts for dinner and got a very warm welcome.

On Friday while checking in for the convention the first person I met was my dear colleague Andy Brough, a negotiation specialist as well. At the evening the international  meeting, provided by Lindsay Adams took place and I got some really good tips to develop my business.

Saturday began with a Keynote from Omekongo and then my excitement continually rose until at 16.00h I entered the stage and delivered my speech The Game is Negotiation. The first time in english to such an audience! And I got such wonderful feedback from many people.

Saturday night was gala dinner and another great experience at the President’s Table together with Gustav Gous (President PSASA) and his wife,  Lindsay Adams (CSP, President GSN) and his wife Debbie, Phil van Hooser (CSP, President NSA) and Omekongo (USA). And what a perfomance with the Silent Conductor!

On Sunday after a lazy breakfast and some packing we were off for another adventure. Steff du Plessis and his wife Maureen invited us to a tour around Johannesburg. Together with the Adam’s, Dan Poynter, Lenora Billings-Harris and Phil van Hooser we were shown several quite different parts of Jo’burg. From a hut in a Township to a 20 Million estate. A short break at Paul du Toit’s home, where the others left the van and then we were on our way to the du Plessis’ home where we got some tea and then a lift to the airport.

Sunday night we left Jo’burg towards Amsterdam in a not so comfortable B777 and on Monday afternoon we were back home.
